Interview of SSRF by SCIENCE journalist
(April 28, Shanghai) Ms. Shawna Williams, reporter, and Mr. Ricky Wong, photographer of SCIENCE paid a visit to SSRF (Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility), an affiliate to Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP), CAS on Saturday afternoon. Ms. WU Ruolei, Vice General Supervisor of International Cooperation & Operation of the Science journal and Mr. AN Jianji, Officer of International Cooperation of CAS, accompanied the reporter.
After the tour of the SSRF building and research facilities, Ms. Shawna Williams, interviewed Dr ZHAO Zhentang, director of SINAP. Dr Zhao gave an overview of SSRF, talked about the scientific research carried out by Shanghai-based light source, and answered the reporter's questions. The guests spoke highly of the construction of the light source and its achievements.
The interview will appear in the September supplement of Science, which is to be co-published with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The publication aims to report on CAS development plan, research strength, key subject areas, and major scientific and technological breakthroughs, so as to enhance the international influence of CAS. SINAP was shortlisted as one of the 10 research institutes to be interviewed by the Science journal, with its successful construction and operation of the light source as China's largest ever scientific research platform.
