The 22nd International Nuclear Graphite Expert Meeting was successfully held

The 22nd International Nuclear Graphite Experts Meeting (INGSM22) was successfully held between 26-28 September 2022. The meeting was hosted by the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Shanghai Nuclear Society. The honorary chairman of the meeting was Prof. Zhimin Dai, director of the SINAP, and the executive chairman was Prof. Guangli Zeng. More than 50 experts from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Korea and other countries attended the meeting. The meeting was held online due to the COVID epidemic.

The International Nuclear Graphite Expert Meeting is the most important high-level international academic meeting to discuss and plan the development of nuclear graphite. The meeting is held once a year. The SINAP was the second time to host the meeting after 2018. There were 22 presentations on advanced reactors design, reactor regulation, graphite stress analysis, graphite decommissioning and waste management, graphite radiation effects and graphite core seismic analysis, etc. The conference focused on in-depth discussion of nuclear graphite irradiation effect, modelling and simulation of nuclear graphite components, and nuclear graphite decommissioning methods, which are of significance for further research and development of nuclear graphite and component design. At the same time, the meeting has deepened the understanding of mainland and foreign researchers on the research trends of nuclear graphite and promoted international academic exchanges.
