On September 14, 2023, a delegation from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain(UPM) , led by Professor Xavier Ferre, the representative of the President of the Madrid University of Technology, visited Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics(SINAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences .

The UPM delegation was composed of Professor Xavier Ferre, the representative of the President of the Madrid University of Technology; Professor Isebel Carrillo, the Dean of the Institute of Engineering and Industrial Design; Professor Piera Maresca, the Vice Dean and Professor Alberto Orozco Caballero, the winner of the International Visiting Scholar Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (PIFI). Prof. HUANG Hefei and Prof. Chang Litao , from the division of materials research of SINAP, and officers from the Research and Education Division of SINAP participated in the visits.

Prof. HUANG Hefei, on behalf of SINAP, extended a warm welcome to the visit of the delegation and then introduced the historical evolution, main research fields and directions, graduate education and international cooperation of SINAP. Professor Xavier Ferre introduced the overall situation of the Madrid Institute of Technology and its cooperation and exchange with Chinese universities and research institutions. Professor Piera Maresca introduced the important achievements of the university in engineering education and talent cultivation, as well as the cultivation of undergraduate and graduate students. After the meeting, the delegation visited the campus of SINAP.

During this visit , both sides had a deep discussion on the possibility of future cooperation in scientific research, graduate cooperation& training etc. and look forward to more substantive exchanges and cooperation in the future.
