The ASTM Standard “Guide of measurements of graphite strength with molten salt at high temperature”, which was developed under the leadership of SINAP, has been officially published.

 

The Guide of measurements of graphic strength with molten salt at high temperature (d8377-2021), which was written by SINAP’s researcher Zeng Guangli, has been officially published by ASTM in 2021. The project was started on November 11, 2015. The standard has been developed according to the international advanced technology. The standard technical clauses have been verified by extensive experiments, which confirmed the repeatability and enforceability of the standard. The publication of the standard will provide a standardized experimental method for measuring the strength changes of graphite affected by molten salt impregnation and high temperature as in molten salt reactor. It also provides a unified basis for international development of graphite strength measurement under high temperature with molten salt impregnation, greatly improves the reliability and comparability of data among laboratories. The standard was formulated by Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which fills in the blank of international methods and standards for measuring the strength of graphite after molten salt impregnation at elevated temperature. This standard is the third ASTM standard successfully published by Zeng Guangli in SINAP. Lu Yanling, Wang Jiamin and Wang Wanxia from the Material Assessment Center have assisted in the experimental certification.
