The 4th Asia Oceania Forum for Synchrotron Radiation Researches (AOFSRR) was successfully held in Shanghai, China from Nov.30- Dec.1, 2009, hosted by Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The conference chair was Prof. Xu Hongjie, the director of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Total 158 formal representatives participated in this conference, coming from 12 nations or regions which were Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Turkey, China etc.. This conference aimed at promoting regional collaboration in synchrotron radiation research field among Asia Oceania region. There are 25 invited oral talks and 51 posters were presented in the conference. The vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Jiang Mianheng, the vice president of National Science Foundation of China, Prof. Shen Wenqing, the vice director of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Mr. Shi Qianghua, and the director of Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Prof. Zhao Zhentang presented the conference and addressed the welcome speeches. This conference provide an information-exchanging platform to show the research activities in synchrotron radiation field in China after the successful construction and operation of SSRF, and was held as a successive academic activities after the 1st SSRF annual user meeting.
