Vice-Premier LI Keqiang Visits SSRF

Shanghai, Feb 17, 2012 - Vice Premier LI Keqiang paid a visit on Friday afternoon to Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), one of the world’s best third generation light sources, and China’s biggest ever scientific project. Mr. Yu Zhensheng, party secretary of Shanghai municipality, and other leaders of the central and local governments, accompanied the Vice Premier to visit SSRF.Entrusted by Dr. BAI Chunli, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Dr. JIANG Mianheng, President of the CAS Shanghai branch, welcomed Vice Premier LI and his party at SSRF on behalf of the CAS. While touring around the facility and hearing briefings on the construction, operation and applications of SSRF, Vice Premier LI was very much interested in the innovations in key technologies of the facility, including the storage ring and beamlines and experimental stations. In a speech during the visit, he encouraged SSRF scientists and engineers to make an even greater contribution to the scientific and technological developments in China, and the world.
